Garth Newel is located in the west central portion of Virginia and is easily accessible from Interstate 81 and Interstate 64 by U.S. Route 220.

 

We’re 75 miles north of Roanoke, Virginia; 160 miles west of Richmond; 275 miles west of Norfolk; 200 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.; 210 miles south of Pittsburgh; 180 miles north of Greensboro, North Carolina; and 150 miles east of Charleston, West Virginia.

The entrance to Garth Newel is clearly marked on Route 220, half-way between Hot Springs and Warm Springs, Virginia.

From Washington DC

  • I-66 west to I-81 south
  • I-81 south to Rt. 257 (Bridgewater exit 240 just past Harrisonburg)
  • Rt. 257 west to Rt. 42 south
  • Rt. 42 south to Goshen where it meets Rt. 39
  • Rt. 39 west to U.S. 220
  • U.S. 220 south toward Hot Springs

Garth Newel is approximately 3 miles south on US 220. (You’ll pass Warm Springs on your right and then the high school on your left.)

From Richmond, Tidewater, Charlottesville

  • I-64 west to I-81 south
  • I-81 south to first exit (220) Staunton Route 262
  • Route 262 to Route 254 west (Parkersburg Turnpike)
  • Rt. 254 west joins Rt. 42 in Buffalo Gap (254 actually ends and you’re on route 42 south)
  • Rt. 42 south to Goshen where it meets Rt. 39
  • Rt. 39 west to U.S. 220
  • U.S. 220 south toward Hot Springs

From Roanoke

  • I-81 north to the Daleville/U.S. 220 north exit (exit 150B)
  • U.S. 220 north to Clifton Forge (approximately 40 miles)
  • Take U.S. 60 east approximately 1/2 mile to I-64 east
  • Go 1.5 miles east on I-64, and take the first exit (#29) to VA 42-N.
  • Turn left at the exit ramp stop sign on to VA 42-north toward Millboro Springs (approximately 16 miles)
  • Turn left onto U.S. 39 west (approximately 9 miles)
  • Turn Left onto U.S. 220 south toward Hot Springs

From Covington, VA and I-64 east from West Virginia

  • I-64 exit 16
  • Follow the signs for U.S. 220 north to Hot Springs (about 25 miles)
  • In Hot Springs you’ll see The Homestead Resort
