Jeannette Fang joined the Garth Newel Piano Quartet in 2015 as pianist and Co-Artistic Director. Praised for her imaginative and expressive performances, she has appeared at major venues including Alice Tully Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center, Zankel Hall, Hill Auditorium, Peter J. Sharp Theater, Weill Recital Hall, and Steinway Hall, in addition to performances throughout Europe and Asia.

Her honors include the Gold Medal at the 2013 Seattle International Piano Competition, where she also received the President’s Award and Audience Favorite Prize. Jeannette has earned top prizes in the Dallas Chamber Symphony International Piano Competition and the MTNA Young Artist National Competition, and is the recipient of the Earl V. Moore Award and the Gottlieb Award from the University of Michigan, as well as the Elizabeth J. Parisot Award from Yale School of Music. She was also named a National Presidential Scholar in the Arts in 2003.

An avid chamber musician, Jeannette has collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists and has been engaged by leading festivals and venues including the Taos Music Festival, YellowBarn, Bargemusic, and Le Poisson Rouge.

Jeannette is a founding member of the contemporary ensemble Khemia Ensemble and has worked closely with composers such as David Biedenbender, Aaron Jay Kernis, Martin Bresnick, David Lang, Sydney Hodkinson, and Andy Akiho. Her recording projects include commissioned prepared piano works, as well as recordings of music by Paul Moravec and William Horne.

In addition to her performance career, Jeannette has published numerous articles on music and hosts the podcast So Many Wrong Notes, exploring creativity, performance, and artistic process. She holds degrees from The Juilliard School and Yale University, and earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan. She has served on the faculty at Duke University, Bowling Green State University, and Siena Heights University.
